Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are the signs I need to replace the gutter system on my home?
Look out for these signs that indicate you may need to replace the gutter system on your home: Overflow of water from existing gutters Consistent clogging or buildup in existing gutters Gutters that are pulling away from the eaves (what the gutters are attached to) of the home Gutters that are off-pitch (tilted too much to one side or sinking toward the middle of the section of gutter) Faded, overgrown, or damaged by storm/ tree branches, etc. Older gutters with gutter spikes (long nails that go through the front of the gutter. Gutters attached with gutter spikes tend to pull forward when they fill with water and force the spike out of the wood. Over time, this leads to ineffective flow of water as well as damage to the wood the gutters are attached to) Cracks in the foundation of the home around the downspouts (indicates that the water flow of the gutters is pooling around the foundation and, thus leading to cracks. The purpose of gutters is to remove water from around the foundation of the home, so this is a critical sign that you need a replacement gutter system.) Our gutter specialists will help you choose the best system based on your home's architecture, water volume, and color preferences.

We are certified to install nearly every major product brand on the market.
  • How often should I have my roof inspected?
We recommend having your roof professionally inspected: A roof inspection becomes more valuable as your roof ages. We recommend an inspection on any 3-tab roof older than 15 years and any architectural roof older than 25 years (see below for an explanation of the differences between a 3-tab shingle and an architectural shingle) After severe weather events (e.g., hailstorms, high winds) If you notice any signs of damage or leaks Regular inspections can help identify and address issues early, potentially extending the life of your roof.
  • What's the difference between a 3-tab and architectural shingle roof?
3-tab shingles: Were the only option for residential homes other than slate/ tile/ cedar prior to the introduction of architectural shingles roughly 30 years ago (most older roofs are still 3-tab) Have a flat, uniform appearance (a google image search is helpful: 3-tab shingled roof) Typically last no more than 15-20 years Wind resistance typically 60-80 mph (the speeds at which the shingles are guaranteed not to blow off from your roof) Architectural shingles: Have a dimensional, textured appearance (Architectural shingled roof) Are thicker and more durable Usually last 25-50 years Offer better wind resistance. Wind resistance typically 110-130 mph. Can increase home value and curb appeal Can decrease your homeowner’s insurance Are now barely more expensive than the cost of 3-tab shingles (due to the lack of production of 3-tab shingles by major manufacturers) We primarily install architectural shingle options, as it provides homeowners with a much better outcome at a marginal cost difference. We can install 3-tab shingles if your HOA requires.
  • How long do roofing, siding, gutter, and window installs typically take?
The duration of a home remodeling project depends on several factors, including the size of your home, the chosen materials, and weather conditions. On average: An average residential roof (2,000-3,000 sq ft) can be replaced in as little as 1 day. An average residential siding project (1,000-2,500 sq ft) can be completed in 3-5 days. An average gutter replacement (150-350 ln ft) can be completed in less than 1 day. An average window replacement project (8-15 windows) can be completed in as little as 1 day. More complex projects or larger homes may take 4-5 days Removal of specialty materials like slate or tile may require an additional 1-2 days or more. Delivery timelines for windows and specialty materials can be anywhere from 4 weeks to 3 months. We'll provide a more accurate timeline during your consultation.

  • What are the signs that I need new windows?
Look out for these signs that indicate you may need new windows: The biggest indicator that you may need new windows is the age of your existing windows. Windows are more than just two clear panes of glass. A fundamental element for windows is the gas in between the panes (typically Argon) that makes your windows energy efficient. Over time (and especially with older windows) this gas “leaches” out of the window, making them incredibly inefficient and prone to fogging. Leaking or water marks in the corner of the windowsills Cold or hot air penetration through the windows (depending on exterior temperature) Cold or hot air penetration around the frame of the windows Excessive cracks in the wall around window openings Windows fog or contain moisture between the panes of glass Windows that can no longer open or close with ease (this is often a bigger indicator of an issue than it may seem. If your windows no longer open or close easily, this often demonstrates that the window- or the opening around the window- has expanded/contracted over time and no longer correctly fits. This generally means the window is not sealed against the elements and is in need of replacement.) If you notice any of these signs, contact us for a professional assessment.
  • Can you handle insurance claims?
Absolutely. We have an experienced insurance division, who can help you seamlessly through the process of working with your insurance.
  • What are the signs that I need my siding replaced?
Look out for these signs that indicate you may need new siding: At this time, all homes with aluminum siding should consider a replacement. Nearly all aluminum siding is inherently energy inefficient, was installed without insulation, and is no longer manufactured or preferred on residential homes Siding that is cracked, loose, or faded Water stains on walls, cold or hot walls, cracks or leaking around windows or doors Age of the siding (most siding is only warrantied to last 15-25 years) Homes with older wood siding should consider vinyl siding as a cost effective option for replacement as it can be added to the home without the need to remove the existing wood siding. Homes with vinyl siding have a base layer of plywood, but most homes with wood siding do not have this additional wood sheathing underneath the existing wood siding, so a delayed replacement (when the wood siding has begun to rot or deteriorate to the point it needs to be removed completely) can involve installing an entire house worth of plywood sheathing (for thousands of dollars) or force you to spend the money on replacing your siding with very costly wood. We offer multiple lines of siding, and each has its own benefits in terms of durability, maintenance, cost, and appearance. We'll discuss the pros and cons of each to help you make the best choice for your home.
